  • The Luna Bean casting kit is a great idea for families or new parents!
  • The finished statue makes a great decor item for anywhere in the house.
  • Always have a reminder of the love shared between two people.

The unique rubbery mold captures every detail for a perfect one-of-a-kind treasured gift. The Luna Bean casting kit makes a fun and memorable gift activity for families, couples holding hands, and friends to create a priceless memory. Great for an anniversary, engagement, valentine's day, mom, dad, new parents, or grandparents.

This plaster casting kit for a pair of hands contains the materials to do 1 casting of the following types:

  • 2 Adult Hands (Couple's Hands, Wedding Hands, Anniversary Hands, Praying Hands, Friends, etc)
  • 2 Adults + up to 2 Children (Ages 10 and under)
  • 3-4 Children under age 12
  • Included with this kit: Plastic molding bucket, Step 1 molding powder (1.5lbs), Step 2 casting stone (2.75lbs), fine sandpaper, course sandpaper, demolding stick, detailing pin and detailed instructions.
Optional Display Base: AA display base can be added at a discount. Some Luna Bean casting statues will fit on a 6" round plaque such as those with small to medium hands/wrists and/or in castings where the wrists are as one unit with go gaps. For castings that include larger hands/wrists, a third adult or a couple of children, you will need the larger 8" square plaque. Attach with tacky wax, crazy/superglue, epoxy or even a screw.
  • Tips: If using glues, first sand the base surface where the cast will be attached. If using a screw, place a screw receiver plug in the cast during the setting phase.
Optional Refill (casting powders only): to create an additional unique statue. It can be added to this complete kit at a discount - see selection above.

Optional Finish: Painting and/or sealing your completed statue is not required, but it is recommended if it will be handled a lot. We have included a few of our most popular finishes. All finishes come with a paintbrush. With the acrylic paints, the first thin coat works as a primer and it is best to apply 1-2 thin coats on top of that. The triple thick glaze and the matte sealant are best when applied in 2 thin layers.

Other Items Needed: Large rubber spatula whisk, or large plastic spoon for mixing molding material, liquid measuring cup, glass or disposable bowl for mixing casting stone.
Making the Mold: The molding material is cool setting, non-toxic and non-allergenic. Wiggling is not a problem as long as the hands remain submerged in the molding material until it sets. The set time is about 5-6 minutes, which includes the mixing time.

Molding bucket dimensions: Approximately 8" Tall and 8" in diameter

Love it!

I have always been a fan of my father's hands. Big and strong and masculine. A couple of weeks before he passed away from dementia, I waited for him to fall asleep in his wheelchair. I set up a table covered in plastic next to him, set the bucket on it, held his hand and we dunked. He startled for a second, but that was actually helpful to get the bubbles popped! I just held his hand tight and he fell right back to sleep. The only difficult part was getting his hand back out. Mine slipped out fairly easily, but getting an unconscious hand out of a mold without hurting him proved interesting. My husband yanked and yanked at the bucket while I held Dad's arm. Teamwork is important! Read the instructions to yourself, to your team, to yourself again. Be prepared with everything you'll need ahead of time. I was doing this in his nursing home away from home and felt like an idiot bugging the staff for various items, but they all seemed interested in what I was up to. All in all, I was VERY HAPPY with how it turned out.

Love this!

I absolutely love this product! It lasts a lifetime and is very nice. It was easy to follow the instructions. Just make sure you get all air bubbles out. I did have some bubbles on the end result but I could sand them down luckily. Highly recommend as a keepsake, as a gift, or just to do on a rainy day!
